 Charles Andrew Orr (1906-1999) was an American economist and socialist. With his wife Louise, he sailed to Spain in Summer 1936, lived in Barcelona during the Spanish Civil War, where they supported the Workers' Party of Marxist Unification POUM. He worked as an editor of the POUM english language bulletin "The Spanish Revolution" and for broadcasting English-language news at Radio POUM. In June 1937, they survived the Stalinist attack on the POUM, were arrested on 17 June but released on 1 July and placed by the US consul on a ship bound for Marseilles on 3 July. They were in Mexico when Trotsky was murdered in August 1940. After war, he became Research Officer in the Economic and Social Department of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions.
