LOCKHEED P-38 LIGHTNING
Almost 10,000 P-38 Lightnings were built during World War II, roughly 10% of America s fighter production during the war. With a wingspan of fifty-two feet, the P-38 was the biggest of the single-seat fighters.

CURTISS P-40 WARHAWK
The P-40 had a variety of versions during the war, appearing first as the Tomahawk, followed by the Kittihawk, and in 1941 as the Warhawk. The P-40 was exported to other US allies and was used by both the British and Soviet Air Force.

REPUBLIC P-47 THUNDERBOLT
More than 15,000 P-47s were built during the war, more than any other U.S. fighter. Nicknamed the "Jug" for Juggernaut, it was considered one of the three top fighter planes of the USAAF. It was also the largest of the single engine fighters built during the war.

GRUMMAN F6F HELLCAT
Designed for carrier operations, the Hellcat was one of the last fighter planes introduced during the war. It was considered a replacement for the Navy s Wildcat.
